How to make Custom Question Types (CQT) for Responsive Layout 3.1 available

Overview

When migrating from Responsive Layout 3 (RL3) to Responsive Layout 3.1 (RL3.1) or after selecting a new RL3.1 template, Custom Question Types (CQTs) from RL3 become unavailable. This article explains how to convert and enable these CQTs for RL3.1.

This is available since version 21.2, as can be seen in our EFS Release Notes 21.2.

Solution

1. Access the CQT Library

   • Navigate to System > Libraries > Question types.
   • Here, you will find a list of your CQTs, indicating which layout version each was created in.
     

2. Select the Unlock Function

   • CQTs can only be made available for version RL3 to RL3.1, not for previous versions.
   • Select the unlock function for your CQT using the padlock on the right of the desired CQT
     

3. Adjust CQT Settings for RL3.1

   • Open the link for your CQT and go to Settings > Layout Subrelease Support
   • Activate the Responsive Layout 3.1 option.
   • Save your changes.
     

4. Verify and Adjust

   • After activating RL3.1, ensure the CQT works as desired in projects with this layout.
   • You may need to adjust the stylesheet or JavaScript.
   • If you need assistance, submit a request to the TIVIAN Professional Services team or Customer Support.
